Description
To celebrate the patron saint of the City of Trieste, the Civica Orchestra di Fiati G. Verdi – Città di Trieste presents a musical event dedicated to the concept of "time."
The first part of the concert draws inspiration from the Latin phrase "tempus fugit" and aims to prompt the listener to reflect on the implications of living in our increasingly fast-paced and frenetic society. Indeed, the song "El camino real" describes a heavily trafficked American highway, "El regalo de Gea" recounts the exact moment when the gods gifted us this planet, and "Dobogoko" reflects on climate pollution, yet through the "Dobogoko March" gives us hope for a better tomorrow. The second part of the concert focuses on the concept "tempus est jocundum," taken from "Carmina Burana," and asks questions such as "How essential is recreation for human beings?" "How important is it for human beings to have time outside of their working lives?" Thus, after the break, the audience is immersed in fairy tales and stories, allowing them to enjoy the time as a form of entertainment. "The Fishermen of Trepang" originates in late 19th-century Italy with Emilio Salgari, who with his pen woos our ancient world; "Hook" with its magic transports all listeners back to carefree childhood; "Batman" tells the adventures of a mysterious superhero, and finally, Bernstein's "Mambo" is the musical image of a mad dance within the love story of West Side Story.
The orchestra will be conducted by its musical director, Maestro Matteo Firmi, and the presentations will be by actor Julian Sgherla.
The event is co-organized with the Municipality of Trieste and thanks to the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and the Casali Foundations. It is also part of the "I am Friuli-Venezia Giulia" festival.
