Description

The exhibition presents three distinct perceptions of Barcola, united by a single common thread: they all originate from perspectives outside the city. The photographs by Andrea Arudini (Udine), Erin McKinney (United States), and Tommaso Vaccarezza (Genoa) offer a fresh look at a place deeply familiar and dear to the people of Trieste, revealing details, gestures, and atmospheres that familiarity often renders invisible. The title borrows a phrase stenciled onto one of the rocks along the waterfront: “D’estati d’estasi bellezza destati” (Summers of ecstasy, beauty awakened). This anonymous intervention serves as the exhibition’s starting point—an invitation to rediscover beauty in Barcola’s most ordinary moments.
