Music contest “Nevermind Nirvana”

Description

The Verdi Theatre in Muggia will host the “Nevermind Nirvana” music competition.
Registration is now open and free of charge; entries must be submitted by 12 noon on Monday 19th October 2026.

The event forms part of the “Confini Dinamici” programme, funded by the Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia, organised by the S@NGIORGIO 2020 Association in partnership with SISSA, the International School for Advanced Studies, and the municipalities of Palmanova, Muggia, Cervignano del Friuli, and San Dorligo della Valle – Občina Dolina.

The organisers explain that “35 years on from Nirvana’s concert in Muggia, rather than dwelling on nostalgia for a scene that no longer exists, "Nevermind Nirvana" makes way for those who compose and perform music live today”.

To enter the competition, you must send an email by 12 noon on 19 October to sangiorgio2020@gmail.com containing: a brief biography (maximum 800 characters), a photo (maximum 3Mb) and a logo, the name and contact details of the contact person, confirmation of your availability to perform on Saturday 7th November 2026, and links to a maximum of three original tracks, at least one of which must have been performed and recorded live and at least one in video format (it may be the same track).

The competition is open to bands, with no restrictions on age, gender, language or geographical origin, who primarily perform their own compositions, with no restrictions on musical genre, but preferably grunge, rock, hard rock and metal of all kinds.
All entries will be assessed by a specially appointed panel of qualified judges. The three bands receiving the highest scores will perform on Saturday 7th November 2026 on the main stage at the "Nevermind Nirvana" event, scheduled to take place at the Verdi Theatre in Muggia.
