Four concerts, from September 21 to December 7, will bring symphonic music and the great orchestral repertoire to Udine’s new Spazio Culturale Creativo. “Lunedì Sinfonica” returns to Cavallerizza and, starting in September, becomes a fully fledged concert series promoted and produced by the Filarmonici Friulani Youth Orchestra. The four-month programme brings together young conductors and soloists who have already established themselves on the national and international scene.
The first cycle of “Lunedì Sinfonica” will come to a close on Monday, December 7 at 8:30 pm with Petar Matošević. A conductor, arranger and saxophonist, he has conducted more than 150 concerts in Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Austria and Croatia, dedicating part of his work to contemporary music and to the rediscovery of composers connected with Istria and the Central European region.
The programme turns its gaze towards Eastern Europe through three of its great composers. Bedřich Smetana’s The Moldau follows the course of the river in music, from its source to Prague, portraying the landscape and identity of Bohemia; Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances transform folk rhythms and inspirations into brilliant orchestral works. The concert will conclude with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Op. 64, with its intense journey through anxiety, passion and redemption.
