Description
Love and death, revenge and mercy: the tragedy of the two Veronese lovers, set to the powerful music of Sergei Prokofiev, is one of the cornerstones of classical ballet. Performing this immortal story on the stage of the Giovanni da Udine will be the prestigious Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, featuring the splendid choreography of Jean-Christophe Maillot. With over 260 performances worldwide and featured in the repertoire of seven major companies, Romeo and Juliet is "The" iconic ballet by Jean-Christophe Maillot. It has it all: the coherence of a classical vocabulary with our times thanks to a modern narrative, a musicality that imbues movement with its power, an eroticism that contrasts with humor, and finally a unique way of combining all artistic disciplines in dance. Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, founded in 1985 by HRH the Princess of Hanover, is one of the most acclaimed dance companies in the world. A benchmark in the dance world since its inception, it preserves a tradition of artistic excellence dating back to the first establishment of choreography in Monaco in 1909, thanks to the presence in the principality of Sergei Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes.
