Description
Thanks to the collaboration of the Friulian Divers’ Association and the support of a number of local organisations, a magical event has been taking place on Christmas Eve for over 50 years on Lake Cornino in the municipality of Forgaria in Friuli, the highlight of which is the emergence of the statue of the Baby Jesus from the crystal-clear waters of the lake. The statue is then placed alongside the other figures in the nativity scene, which move silently, bathed only in the faint reflected light, whilst the Star of Bethlehem in the centre of the lake lights up to celebrate the magic of Christmas. The special edition in 2026 will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Friuli earthquake.
