Italian Baja is Italy’s most important and famous off-road competition. Born in 1993 with immediate ambitions of excellence, from 1994 to 2003 it was Italy’s only competition valid for the Tout Terrain Rally World Cup, which comprised the legendary Paris-Dakar, the Rally of the Pharaos, the Paris-Beijing Raid and other extraordinary events. The greatest pilots competed in Pordenone, supported by the official teams of the Car Companies.
On the changed international competitive scene, from 2005 to 2010, the Italian Baja was included in the Fia Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, the launching pad to be back on a world level in 2011, once again Italy’s only competition of the Fia World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. In 2012 another step forward acquiring the validity for the new Fim Bajas World Cup reserved to motorbikes and quad bikes.
