Description
Jet Black Diamonds are a Slovenian band hailing from the Vipava Valley, now recognized as one of the most compelling acts in the country’s emerging music scene. The group first gained attention in 2021 with the single "Retro Anorak," which was named "Song of the Week" by the radio station Val 202 and became one of the most-played tracks of the year. This was followed by "Še zadnjič" (One Last Time), which earned the band a nomination for "Best New Artist" at the 2022 Zlata piščal awards—the most prestigious music honors in Slovenia. That same year, they released the EP *Večvredne romance* (Worthwhile Romances), which featured three tracks that were each selected as "Song of the Week." In 2024, they released their debut album, *Sladki problemi* (Sweet Problems), launching it with a sold-out concert at Kino Šiška in Ljubljana. In December of that year, the band achieved another sell-out, this time at Ljubljana’s Gala Hala, with a show titled "Gala Problemi." In 2025, following their first international performances in Vienna and Zagreb, Jet Black Diamonds reached a new milestone by performing at the EXIT Festival—one of the region’s most significant music festivals. Shortly thereafter, they released the single "Kje ste vsi?" (Where Are You All?), and in the spring of 2026, they added two new tracks to their repertoire—"Ljubljena" and "Pet let"—which will be included on their upcoming album, set to be unveiled at Kino Šiška in late October. Their sound defies easy categorization, blending contemporary indie rock with retro-inspired melodies and catchy, immediate choruses. At the core of their music are sincere lyrics rooted in the personal experiences of the five band members, touching on generational nostalgia and the small, transitional moments of everyday life. A constantly evolving sonic identity that has led critics to regard them as one of the most compelling examples of the new Slovenian alternative pop scene.
