Description
FREE EXCURSION / Limited places, booking required
We invite you to explore the Polcenigo ridge as if walking along an ancient tropical beach, following the circular Geological Trail between Malga Cervera and Malga Col dei S’cios, with the opportunity to purchase and taste local traditional products.
The name Col dei S’cios derives from the presence, within the rocks, of numerous fossil remains of aquatic mollusks that lived during the Cretaceous period. These organisms had shells similar in shape to those of present-day land snails, known as s’cios in the local dialect.
Without ever leaving the mountains, at an altitude between 1,100 and 1,300 meters, visitors are transported, in a sense, to the Bahamas, discovering fossil evidence of one of the greatest expansion phases of the Friulian carbonate platform during the Cretaceous period.
The excursion takes place within the geosite along a route alternating between woodland and open areas, offering spectacular panoramic views over the plain.

Duration: 3 hours / Difficulty: Easy
