"Homer's Time. Voice, Body, Gaze of Antonutti" is the title of the exhibition, scheduled from July 5 to October 12, 2025 and set up in the ground-floor spaces of Palazzo Gopcevich, which aims to pay tribute to the career of Omero Antonutti (1935-2019), an actor of theater, cinema, television and famous voice actor, Friulian by origin and Triestine by adoption, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth. The exhibition itinerary - illustrated during the press conference - presents a journey through the many facets of Omero Antonutti's acting career, through a span of sixty years of activity for theater, film and television. The exhibition, divided over three rooms, traces Omero Antonutti's artistic journey through the milestones of his theatrical and film career, and is built around the private collection of the Omero Antonutti Cultural Association, which has collected the actor's entire legacy and archived materials throughout his artistic life. Theater and film posters and playbills, photobusts and stage photographs, images and documents of the many professional trips and transfers, medals and awards received over nearly sixty years. Plus pinned and autographed books, scripts and brochures, props and memorabilia make up the mosaic around which the exhibition revolves.
And the journey starts, unfailingly, from the actor's trunk, with the original coppola used on the set of “Padre Padrone” and the stage suit used for the role of Pirandello in “Kaos.” The itinerary is enriched by some original shots by Umberto Montiroli, one of the greatest Italian set photographers, referring to the sets of the Taviani brothers' films. Also, by a selection of black-and-white stage photographs from the digital archive of the National Theater of Genoa. And from a selection of film clips, in rotation on six monitors, with materials from the Teche Rai, a video interview produced by Videoest, excerpts from the documentary “From the Oak to the Palm Tree - The 40 Years of Padre padrone” by Sergio Naitza and sequences of footage from the shows produced on the regional territory “The Memory of Offense,” “Genius loci,” “Voices in War” and “Danube.”
The exhibition will be open from Wednesday to Sunday starting Saturday, July 5, with free admission from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
