Exhibition ‘Rainer Maria Rilke 150th Anniversary – The Duino Elegies’

The exhibition is dedicated to Rainer Maria Rilke, one of the most intense and profound poets of the 20th century, who found inspiration right here in our region for one of the absolute masterpieces of European poetry: The Duino Elegies.
Rilke arrived in Duino in 1911, as a guest of Princess Marie von Thurn und Taxis, and here, among the karst cliffs overlooking the sea and the evocative atmosphere of Duino Castle, he wrote the first verses of the Duino Elegies.
The Duino Elegies are one of the high points of 20th-century poetry: ten elegies that address the great themes of existence — the meaning of life, the relationship with the divine, the vulnerability and beauty of the world, the mystery of love and metamorphosis.
Opening hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays. Free admission.
