Exhibition: ‘80th Parachute Regiment, Trieste 1946–2026: Eighty Years of Courage, Loyalty and Parachutist Spirit’

The exhibition, rooted in the formation of the first paratrooper units in the 1940s, is not merely a journey into the past but a bridge to the future. Its goal is to show—especially to younger generations—how the challenge of parachuting offers an ideal path to discovering one’s potential, overcoming personal limits, and forging true friendships based on solid values: courage, teamwork, discipline, respect, and a strong commitment to safety. These values ​​also translate into concrete action within the local area, placing the group at the community's service in times of need. It is an invitation not to forget the past, but to view it with fresh eyes through an immersive experience that blends technology and history. Displays feature uniforms, flight suits, parachutes, and training gear, allowing visitors to get a close-up look at paratrooper equipment spanning from the pioneers of El Alamein to the present day. Numerous display cases showcase vintage photographs and memorabilia—rescued from the dust of time and presented in a modern, accessible style—while looping videos provide context for both military and sport parachuting activities. Thirty-eight explanatory panels mounted on metal grids cover two main topics: the history of parachuting from Leonardo’s early studies to the present day, with a special focus on events during World War I and World War II; and the history of the Trieste Section—established on November 11, 1946—tracing the organization's evolution and the various activities it has undertaken over the years.
The exhibition is open from September 27 to October 25, Wednesday through Sunday: from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM until October 11, and from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM from October 14 onwards. Access is included in the museum admission ticket.
