Description
The third edition of ‘Nadal de l’Isola’ is scheduled to take place in Grado from 5 December 2026 to 6 January 2027. This programme of events will accompany the festive season with activities dedicated to tradition, culture, entertainment and the chance to discover the ‘Island of the Sun’ at its most enchanting.
The programme will include some of the most characteristic Christmas events in Grado.
The traditional Nativity Scene Exhibition in Grado will accompany the festive season with a trail spanning various locations across the town, where visitors can admire nativity scenes and depictions of the Nativity, alongside the exhibitions on display at the Palazzo dei Congressi. This event celebrates the creativity, passion and tradition of those who, year after year, help to make Grado even more enchanting during the Christmas period.
Particularly eagerly anticipated will be the Grand Lagoon Nativity Scene in Campo Patriarca Elia, the spectacular display which, having been admired in St Peter’s Square in Rome and in Gorizia, will once again bring the lagoon landscape and the Nativity scene—set amongst casoni, water and batele—to the heart of Grado.
The festive atmosphere will also be enhanced by the Christmas market, which this year will feature new, customised stalls in a nautical style, designed to reflect the character and identity of Grado. It is a place to stroll around, browse through the goods on offer and gift ideas, and let yourself be enveloped by the Christmas spirit.
For the little ones and the whole family, there will also be a funfair, which will add to the festive celebrations with rides and entertainment, providing yet another opportunity for fun as part of the Christmas programme.
Among the traditional events is the Panettone Walk, scheduled for St Stephen’s Day: a chance to enjoy sport, socialising and celebration as we spend the day after Christmas together in a cheerful and informal atmosphere.
The festivities will then draw to a close on 5 January with ‘Arrivano le Varvuole’, featuring the fascinating and mysterious sea witches of Grado’s folklore. Legendary figures linked to the lagoon’s folklore, the Varvuole return to bring the island to life with their landing at Porto Mandracchio and the subsequent procession, transforming the eve of Epiphany into a moment of magic, folklore and spectacle.
Alongside these events, ‘Nadal de l’Isola’ also features new activities, music, entertainment, shows and fun for young and old alike, with plenty of new ideas designed to make the Christmas period in Grado even more enjoyable and engaging. An invitation to experience the ‘Island of the Sun’ during the festive season, amidst revived traditions, new experiences and the special atmosphere of Christmas in Grado.
