The workshop is an introduction to the Japanese Kurinuki technique, which consists of carving a solid block of clay to reveal the form from within, in a process inspired by the wabi-sabi aesthetic. This is a fully hands-on and introductory session: each participant will create an object on which they will experiment with the Mishima technique, incising marks and filling them with slips or pigments to create delicate contrasts.
The workshop is open to everyone, including those with no prior experience. Glazing is not included: the piece will represent an initial exploration of the technique. The ceramics will be taken to the studio for firing and can later be collected at Centro Espressioni Cinematografiche, Via Villalta 24 (UD). Further details will be communicated by email after the activity.
