The psychedelic quintet Altın Gün returns with Garip, their fifth album – their most mature and eclectic release to date, as well as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Turkish folk singer Neşet Ertaş.
Since their explosive debut in 2018 with On, the Amsterdam-based Altın Gün have established themselves at the forefront of the contemporary revival of Turkish-influenced psychedelic sounds in the 21st century.
From the very beginning, the band effortlessly captured the spirit of 1970s Anatolian psych-funk pioneers such as Barış Manço and Erkin Koray. With Yol (2021), they further expanded their sonic palette, introducing synths and drum machines to create a more dreamlike, distinctly ’80s-inspired atmosphere.
