Itinerary that winds along the paths and streets found in the municipality of Prepotto to discover the ancient votive churches of the Natisone Valleys area.
The Way of the Ancient Parishes is a path that winds through the paths and streets present in the Municipality of Prepotto and connects four ancient votive churches: the church of St. Peter the Apostle in San Pietro di Chiazzacco, the church of Saints Peter and Paul in Centa, the church of St. Nicholas the Bishop in Cladrecis and the church of the Three Kings in Prepotischis, until it reaches the Sanctuary of Castelmonte, a destination for many pilgrims throughout the year.
Along the way, visitors can visit the rural villages that characterize the Municipality of Prepotto and the ancient parish churches, and learn about their history thanks to the information panels installed near the small churches. There are rest areas along the way, where they can refresh themselves and enjoy the surrounding hilly landscape.
The area is an important junction point for other important itineraries, such as the Cammino Celeste, Sentiero Italia (CAI) and Alpe Adria Trail, as well as with bicycle and scenic routes (Castelmonte Panoramic Trail).
Due to the length of the route, it is suggested to take advantage of the Castelmonte Sanctuary as a well-equipped support point for overnight stay.

The trail is in many sections in full sunstroke, so it is recommended to take precautions if you decide to walk it in the summer months.
