Val Polaga

The route begins in Masseris, where you can park your car near the church at the beginning of the village. From here, it is recommended to follow trail CAI 736a, which starts behind the Museo del Matajur (Matajur Museum). Along the way, you can follow the signs put up by the locals to reach the "Laghetto" (small lake). After leaving the village of Masseris, you gradually enter a forest, first of pine trees and then beech trees.
Upon reaching the clearing of Val Polaga (in the local Slovenian dialect "Paluoga"), you will find the small lake fed by a nearby spring called "Ta par pačaliče" (near the pond) by the locals. The name comes from "pačal," which means water pool, and it is currently fed by the spring called "Pacadove" (Pazadove). From here, you can enjoy the view of the beautiful landscape.
1 km away from Val Polaga, you can reach the Idarko Planino alpine hut in Slovenian territory, near the summit of Mrzli Vrh.
