Tribil di sotto/Dolenji Tarbij - Rural Village
The name "Tarbi" comes from the Slovenian "trebiti" (to deforest) and is linked to the exploitation of agricultural land. The villages Tribil di Sotto (below) and Sopra (above), about 4.5km apart, are located on the ridge that starts from the base of Mount Cum and continues to Castelmonte, an area of significant landscape value due to the succession of meadows and wooded patches. Tribil di Sotto (588 meters a.s.l) is situated on a slightly sloping shelf.
The village consists of houses and cottages, flanked by numerous mulberry trees, some centuries old. Notable are the courtyard buildings from the 18th century, located in the center of the village, which include: first main building in line, with an external stone staircase and a long wooden balcony, a second building in line, with a balcony facing the courtyard, a third unit, closes the courtyard, creating a protected environment.
At the southern end of the village, there is an intact building that derives from three bodies of different eras and rises over three floors. The façade facing the valley is marked by small windows with stone jambs, while the one facing the mountain is characterized by an external stone staircase and a long balcony covered by the overhang of eaves. Some elements reveal notable craftsmanship: the perfect texture of the walls with stones arranged "dry", the stone jambs with the arched architrave for load distribution, the polychrome under-tile slabs with diamond designs, and the wooden parapet of the balcony.
