The Rural Villages of Billerio - San Giacomo
The area has been mentioned since 1130 along with the Castle of Prampero. Billerio appears in 1291 under the jurisdiction of the steward of Tricesimo, who maintained possession until the Venetian rule.
The town consists of numerous villages, including Cret, Fabbro, Foranesi, and Urana, all in panoramic positions, with buildings scattered across terraces, forming small courtyards along the street fronts. After the 1976 earthquake, many of the collapsed houses were rebuilt and modified. Among the remaining buildings that testify to the typical architecture, in the village of San Giacomo, there is the Antoniutti house, a 19th-century stone building of older origins, situated on the street front. Similarly, there is the building known as the Town Hall, which may have served as a customs control point: this stone construction is characterized by its tower shape, sloping wall, and small openings on the street front.
