The Piave River (the Sappada beat)

This is the spring of the Piave, a river with a millenary Italic tradition that has earned it the name of "the sacred river of the homeland".

Rich in brown trout, at an altitude of more than 1,800 metres above sea level, it is characterised by its transparent waters and its high mountain conformation, which requires accuracy in the fishing approach and the presentation of the fly or the lure.

The catch-and-release beat ranges from the waterfall upstream of the first inhabited old mill at the beginning of the Sesis Valley to the dam in front of the municipal sports field. Sappada is also a beautiful village with the typical charm of the Alps and the Dolomites.

Rich in history and tradition, with wooden sculptures and ancient hamlets, local food and cuisine served in charming restaurants, breathtaking views at the foot of the Dolomites as well as many other endless attractions. It is certainly worth a visit for one or more days, in addition to your fishing experience.
