An enchanting and relaxing landscape of gentle hills that are dotted with wine bars and wineries that produce some of the best white wines in the world as well as full-bodied reds: Collio, with its main centre of Cormons. Here, not far from the mountains and the sea, is a completely unique microclimate with fresh air and a wide temperature range. It marries perfectly with the ‘ponka’, the characteristic Collio soil that is ideal for vine growing.

Gorizia is a small, pretty town whose Habsburg past is clear to see in its buildings and gardens. The town is also a symbol of 20th-century Europe’s troubled history. It will be the European Capital of Culture in 2025, together with its Slovenian half Nova Gorica.
Separated from Collio by the river Isonzo, Carso goriziano is an area that was the stage of many battles during the Great War. Today, it preserves that history with memories and testimonies, including the military memorial at Redipuglia – a huge monumental cemetery dedicated to the memory of the fallen. In the surrounding area, trenches and communication trenches are easily accessible by bike, on a route that is both picturesque and historic.
