The origins of the church, nestled in the greenery of Mount Madlessiena, date back to the 11th century. The small building we see today, with exposed stone walls and a pitched roof with a wooden structure and tiled roof, seems to date back to the mid-17th century. It was modified following the collapse reported during the last war, rebuilt on the original foundations in 1949 as well as the sacristy and, also at the back but to the left of the choir, the low and squat bell tower with three bells, date to this time. The current altar replaces the lost 18th-century one and is adorned with two wooden statues of Saints Nicholas and Sebastian. The church is part of the "Path of the 44 Votive Churches" of the Natisone Valleys.
