Not far from the fishing village of Marano Lagunare there is the Valle Canal Novo Regional Nature Reserve: a true paradise for lovers of birdwatching, nature photography, or simply for those who wish to spend a day immersed in nature!
The Reserve covers a total area of 121 hectares and is made up of a former fishing valley, from which it takes its name, a lagoon area of a few hectares called "Corniolo" and some arable land: it is a natural ecosystem complex, including wet environments and waters with various degrees of salinity which have favored the proliferation of a rich avifauna.
The lagoon visitor center was designed based on the model of the Anglo-Saxon Wetlands Centres. Equipped with several buildings constructed in the traditional style of local casoni, it also features modern structures and educational tools, with the aim of offering advanced methodologies and new opportunities to learn more about the enchanting lagoon environment.
In addition to the huts and structures built for observing the avifauna and studying the lagoon environment, an aquarium has been built, so visitors can immerse themselves in the lagoon and discover the various organisms inhabiting this extraordinary environment.
