The Romea Strata is an ancient network of pilgrimage routes that crosses Central and Eastern Europe and leads towards Rome, following historic paths used over the centuries by pilgrims, merchants and travellers. Today, it represents a cultural and spiritual itinerary that allows visitors to rediscover the territory at a slower pace, through history, nature, traditions and places of worship.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Romea Strata is divided into three main sections, crossing environments and landscapes that differ greatly from one another. From the mountains and foothills, the route descends towards the plains, passing through historic villages, art cities and important religious sites. Together, these three routes offer different perspectives on the region's heritage, combining the walking experience with the discovery of the history and identity of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
