From Sauris di Sopra you climb towards the Sella di Festons, passing between mountain huts and glacial lakes, then continue to Casera Festons, Malga Malino, Casera Vinadia Grande and Forcella Pieltinis.
This is a road that is only partially paved and closed to tourist vehicle traffic. The start is from the central square of Sauris di Sopra (about 1400 m) by taking the road to the right of the small fountain there. The first stretch, characterized by significant slopes, passes through the locality of Vlekhe to then reach the Sella di Festons at an altitude of 1860 m above sea level.
From this point the panorama opens onto the wide semicircular plateau of the mountain huts Rioda, Festons and Malino, some suggestive glacial lakes, but above all the splendid crown of the Dolomiti Pesarine. The excursion continues among the pastures up to Casera Festons (CAI path no. 204); towards Malga Malino you climb again to an altitude of 1862 m: a mountain pass from which a majestic view can be appreciated. Then, a modest flat stretch precedes a steep descent into a hollow, after crossing which only a short climb separates us from the Malino pastures.
The road continues downhill to the buildings of the mountain hut, located in a splendid position at an altitude of 1686 m along the northern slopes of Monte Pieltinis. Previously, with a small detour it is possible to reach another panoramic point near a watering hole. Continuing gently downhill, you almost immediately start ascending again towards the mountain pass at 1880 m, from which, after a short descent, you reach Casera Vinadia Grande. In front of us is the entire route of the easy ascent that leads to Forcella Pieltinis.
