The Vicentina Way, better known as the Napoleonic Way, is one of the easiest and most accessible routes to discover the Karst of Trieste and enjoy the splendid view of the Gulf. It is located just a short distance from the city centre of Trieste. The starting point that is also be easily reached by public transport.
The origin of its two names is connected to both the historical background of the route and to local tradition. In fact, the name Napoleonic Way is linked to the ancient belief that Napoleon's troops inaugurated the road, while the other name, the Vicentina Way, comes from the surname of the engineer who designed the route: Vicentini. The walk, which lasts about an hour, is very easy and suitable for everyone. It winds along a road at 350 metres above sea level, with wonderful views over the Gulf of Trieste, the Victory Lighthouse, Miramare Castle and the city, without giving up the opportunity to enjoy the territory of the Karst and its rich and diverse vegetation.

At the end of the route, in the direction of Prosecco, there are several popular open-air climbing crags featuring a wide range of grades of difficulty to satisfy the most demanding sports enthusiasts.
