10 thousand steps of health FVG - RESIA

The trail runs between the hamlets of Prato and San Giorgio, along the south-facing slope, at altitudes between 380 and 460 m a.s.l. It is a circular trail about 3.6 km long, consisting mainly of grassy and beaten earth that winds through meadows, pine forests and deciduous woods.

The trail starts at Majana di Lipovaz in Prato di Resia, which is reached by traveling 0.5 km on a paved road after parking in Tiglio square in Prato. You walk along the short stretch that descends through the meadows and, past a small bridge, you enter a landscape with a rich presence of erratic boulders of glacial origin, some of them sculpted by Diego Marangoni. At the end of this stretch you reach the vicinity of the bridge over the Resia torrent and the adjacent Rio Barman hydroelectric power plant, where, with a small detour, it is possible to stop in the equipped area located near the torrent and the power plant itself. Continuing along the uphill path toward the hamlet of San Giorgio, you reach the village where it is possible to visit the Museum of the former turnaria social dairy, open in the summer period or by reservation. An easy path leads to the starting point, where it is possible to visit the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Assunta. Also of special interest is the Visitor Center of the Julian Pre-Alps Nature Park.
