10 thousand steps of health FVG - GEMONA DEL FRIULI

The route runs along the historic center of Gemona starting from the Percorso Vita, an educational area dedicated to physical exercises surrounded by greenery. Descending from Via Comitât Universitât Furlane, on the right is the site of the former Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Continuing along Via Caneva, you reach Piazza Garibaldi, on which face the palaces of Counts Gropplero and Scarpa. Palazzo Boton stands out in the Town Hall square. From here enter Via Bini, a typical medieval street, on which historic buildings alternate with portals, small squares and arcades and enter Palazzo Elti, home of the Civic Museum. On the right, walking down the Salita dei Longobardi, you enter the large park and castle of Gemona. The majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is then encountered. To the left of the cathedral is the Parish Museum. Passing through Porta Udine, the only survivor of the old city walls, you take Via Monte Glemine on which is the ancient washhouse and through a lane you reach the Silans Fountain, known since Roman times. You then come to Via Vuarbe, which crosses the Gemona countryside to the border with Artegna. From here you continue along Strade dai Sales, which joins Via Sottocastello to be followed until the intersection with Via delle Chiese, which leads to the Colle di San Martino, on which the Pieve di Santa Maria Nascente is located. The Savorgan Castle is thus reached. At the top of the hill is the small Church of San Martino.
