Description:
The route starts from the parking lot by Malga Poccet (Agritrourism and tasting of local food produices). proceed only for a short stretch along the road, then take a mule track that allows you to cut through some bend. Back to the trail before reaching the Jeluz shelter (elevation 1515mt). After passing it, take CAI 601 trail.
At first the trail runs across meadows and then between pines and rhododendrons, along the slope down to a small pass. Here the view stretches on the underlying Val Dogna.
Ignoring the track leading down to Bieliga Pass, follow to the right a mule track running just down the ridge. Proceed to the top of Mt. Schenone, passing over some exposed stretch near war works remains.
The grassy peak (1950mt, cross and summit book) offers a wide panorama. From the peak, go shortly back until you walk across a track that follows south the steep grassy slope under the peak (red arrows).
Trying to follow the track, which sometimes is not visible through the vegetation, take CAI 602 trail. Following the trail among rock sides and pines, nearby the crest line, reach the panoramic top of Jôf di Dogna (1960mt)
Hike backward the same trail down to the fork under Mt. Schenone. Proceed to the right (CAI 602), passing south-west the Clap del Jovel. Meet a fork where, eventually turning left, it is possible to go back directly to the ascent track.
The itinerary proceeds down to the right with some turns and a steep stretch –though facilitated by the presence of two chain crops. In a short time, the track becomes broader and easier; after a bend by a nice glade, to the left appears Casera Bieliga (1506mt) restructured and partly destined to pasturing.
Now, without entering the wood, you can turn left along the grassy slope toward Bieliga Pass (1479mt), where you can enjoy a spectacular view over the Montasio side.
From the Pass, proceed up along the forest trail that passes by Malga San Leopoldo (1565mt), whose building is converted as shelter (always open). From the dairy hut, keep hiking up until you reach Mt. Piccolo Pass (elevation 1720mt).
Here the road runs with several bends down to the start of trail 601 and then, along the outward route, to the start point.
