Description
Downstream access
Drive SS 13 toward Tarvisio, and after reaching Chiusaforte turn to the right at the traffic light. Take the road that leadst to Nevea Pass. After crossing the bridge over the Fella River, the road runs through the ‘Raccolana’ suburb and the namesake creek right after. It is possible to park the car, right over the bridge (1-2 cars). Or you can take the narrow road from the same lot to an ex-bar/restaurant - not visible from the road (50mt) – with a wide lot nearby
Alternatively, after the bridge over the Raccolana, you can take the first road to the right that leads either to a small lot in front of a small powerhouse or to the creek bed.
In case of sustained flows in the Fella River, it would be better to leave a car nearby the exit of the gorge. In the vicinity of Chiusaforte sports field could do, for instance.
To arrive there, drive into Chiusaforte at the first entrance and turn right, through an underpass that leads to the schools. Proceed straight on, then turn left and on to the sports field. Proceed to the end of the road and park in a lot in the vicinity of the motorway bridge.
Downstream access parking lot coordinates: 46.24356, 13.181841
Upstream access
Drive back to the SS 13, or through the village to the traffic light, then follow the indications as above.
Approach
In the area where the cars are parked, there is a single house on the road’s right side. CAI 632 trails begins from the adjacent meadow (ProCanyon roadmark). Follow it to the fork at a left-turn bend. Here, abandon CAI 632 trail and proceed along 638, which passes by the watershed to the right and goes on westward. After arriving nearby a high voltage pylon, abandon CAI 638 trail as well and take a track in the meadow flanking the pylon itself (ProCanyon roadmark). The track goes on a slight slope.
After about 50mt, the trail delves back into the wood, where, on a tree to the right, find a ProCanyon roadmark. From this roadmark, abandon the trail and hike down into the wood to the right, following a steep track that will take us to the bed in 10 minutes.

After the last slope, cross the Fella and climb it up on the right bank, then cross it again to the left bank where the Raccolana Creek flows in.
To the Raccolana’s left bank, a wide space leads to the road to the powerhouse and later to the car parking.
If you left the car at the sports field, once you crossed the Fella (so not to do so again), wade to the right bank toward the motorway bridge, then easily walk up the roadbed toward the sports field.
Carefully evaluate the Fella river flow, where the Macile creek flows in.
At the foot of the last waterfall, the Fella bed can be dry or show a more or less important flow, according to the gravelly heaps moved by the Fella itself.
In case of strong flows, to wade across the Fella is better to flank the side downstream, heading for a high voltage pylon, about 10-15mt away. After arriving to the bank, pass over the pylon and wade across downstream it to reach the opposite bank with white waters techniques.
Toponymy: In the old Tabacco charts, the creek is marked only as ‘Brussine’, while in the recent ones it is divided into ‘Brussine’ and ‘Macile’. As a matter of fact, the Macile is but the continuation of the Brussine Creek in its lower part.
How to read the data sheet
C = slope equipped point
AN = natural ancorage
MC = handrail
PI = halfway point
DEV = Deviation
DIS = downclimb
TB = toboga
TF = leap
The notation Dx (right) and Sx (left), relative to the slope points, the handrail, deviations, etc., always indicate the creek orographic bank, where they are positioned. For instance, DEV Sx indicates that the deviation lays on the left bank, and not to the left of the canyoner that will face the deviation.
