Start from the
parking area of the Upper Lake of Fusine (940 m), 9 km away from
Tarvisio. Follow the forest track that leads to the Rifugio Zacchi Alpine Hut as far as the fork to Alpe Tamer (974 m) and keep right along the
CAI path no. 513. After reaching the wide clearing of Alpe Tamer, at the foot of Mount Privat, go south and climb up the wooded ridge to reach the Alpe Vecchia (1307 m). Here you can admire the amazing view of the northern side of the
Mangart range, which you will follow eastwards, on the edge of the forest, until reaching the forest track that, from the crossroads, shortly leads to the Rifugio Zacchi Alpine Hut (1380 m, open also in the winter season).
From the Alpine hut, go back along the CAI path no. 512, which reaches the underlying forest track, at about 15 minutes from the parking area of the Upper Lake of Fusine.
