Village Above and Village Below

The villages of Sopra, di Sotto, Noacco, Molinar, Bera, Sant'Antonio and Coos are grouped along the Liescovaz stream. In 1211, the territory depended on the steward of Tricesimo; the first mention of the settlement dates back to 1329, which maintained the same jurisdiction until the 18th century, before passing to the Zanchi Locatelli family, who built a fortified castle on Mount Zuffine in 1720. Near the Molinar village is Casa Cormons, which retains its stone masonry facade. The name of the village is linked to the mill (formerly Noacco, now Cormons), of which some traces remain. To the north, another house with a wooden loggia, masonry, and stone columns is one of the few remaining examples of traditional architecture. The parish church of Saints Joseph and Matthew was built in 1903 in a neoclassical style. The facade features four semi-columns with composite capitals surmounted by a pediment; above the gabled and stone-framed entrance there is a fresco depicting Christ the King. The bell tower (1921) has Neo-Romanesque stone bifore windows and a belfry crowned with an octagonal drum with spire. In Coos  village there was the Saint Matthew the Apostle church, of which only a few traces remain, while the stone bell tower, dating from the 19th century, is still intact.
