Since 2008, the small Carnic Municipality of Forni Avoltri, located at a few kilometres from Cadore and the border with Austria, has been home to a permanent exhibition of the Great War in the Upper Degano Valley and the front formed by the surrounding peaks (mounts Coglians, Navagiust, Avanza, Chiadenis and Cacciatori, Valle Inferno, Giramondo and Volaia Passes).
The exhibition is housed in the ground floor of the ethnographic museum "Cemout chi erin" (The way we were) and displays an array of war relics and objects found or donated by the local population. Quite significant are, for instance, some original postcards and pictures showing the life of soldiers and the village of Forni Avoltri during wartime. In addition, the museum hosts a reproduction of a tunnel position with bunk beds, originally found on Mt. Navagiust in 2007. INFORMATION
