Drenchia is located on the crest of a morainic amphitheater on the border with Slovenia, in the highest part of the Natisone Valleys. This area features numerous trails and paths that showcase its significant natural beauty and offer breathtaking views of the valleys, especially the trails leading to Mount Colovrat or the section of the ‘Walk of Peace’ route. Notable sites include the two small votive churches of Santa Maria Assunta and San Wolfgang, as well as the rural villages of Obenetto and Cras, where traditional rural architecture can be admired, well-documented in the small but valuable Museum of the Rural House. Of particular interest is the route that visits the defensive structures used during World War I, leading to the nearby Caporetto, site of a major defeat.
