Certenja Waterfall and the Springs of the Cornappo
The town of Cornappo (521 m above sea level), located at the foot of the Gran Monte mountain range, is situated near the spring area of the homonymous stream, which after a long course flows into the Torre stream near Nimis. The initial stretch of the stream’s valley runs in an east-west direction and collects, to the east of the Tanaiauarie village, the water coming from both the slopes of Gran Monte with the streams Tasajauar and Unoe Patoze, and from the northern slope of Monte Pridolna (831 m above sea level). The spring area presents important naturalistic aspects, especially the beautiful Certenja Waterfall, which is 8 meters high and has a small lake at its base. The watercourses pass through mesophilous broad-leaved forests, such as hornbeam and ash woods, characterized by a very rich undergrowth with diverse species: Gentiana asclepiadea, Dactyloriza fuchsii, Listera ovata, Valeriana tripteris, Asarum europaeum, Epimedium alpinum, and Convallaria majalis. Accessibility: From the village of Tanaiauarie, you go down a path which at a certain point forks: the right leads up to Monte Pridolna, while to the left you can reach the waterfall.
