The smell of embers

When you want to get lost in the Friulian countryside, you can always find the ideal place to do it. So, after a day at the office, on my way home, near Gradisca d'Isonzo, I only had to take a different road to find myself surrounded by vineyards and wineries

At the end of this road, there is a small isolated house, surrounded by nature... The owner, a super connoisseur of barbecued meat, welcomes you with his smile and a good glass of fresh Prosecco, to be sipped exclusively in front of the vineyards.

The smell of embers, however, tickles my taste buds and so I sit in the garden and wait for my dinner. I can choose various types of meat dishes, from traditional Friulian ones to the neighbouring ones of the Slovenian and Croatian borders, always accompanied by seasonal side dishes. An excellent red wine from Spessa Castle is a predominant feature of the dining table.

When it's time to eat, I feel happy. Good food, good wine and the chirping of crickets are the right combination to end the day, either on business or on holiday (and with a chilled Pelinkovec).
*A Pelinkovec is a Balkan bitter liqueur made of herbs and absinthe
