Friland is born

Can a mini house of 12 square metres contain everything necessary for a holiday in such a small space? The answer is yes. It was a lovely surprise to discover (and try) Friland, the first mini-accommodation service on wheels immersed in the nature of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
It is a tiny house, as they are called in the USA, where they have been popular for years, both for holidays and for those who decide to live simply, made famous by several TV shows.
The house where we will spend a night in the following months is in Val Saisera. The accommodation is self-sufficient and perfectly integrated with the territory, and is also built with natural materials. When it is moved, it leaves no trace behind it, for an ecological and "green" tourism that more and more people are appreciating.

We enter quickly, as we are curious to see this room surrounded by nature. We are pleasantly surprised by the light wood, which makes it seem more spacious. It doesn't seem so small and has everything we need. The bathroom has a standard WC (not a chemical one) a washbasin and a nice shower. The kitchen has a large window and is fully equipped, in about one and a half metres there is everything necessary for those who want to cook. Opposite there is another window above a folding table with two seats, useful for eating or for a computer.
And then the area which stands out the most: the bed next to a huge window. We seem to be sleeping among the trees and the nearby meadows. And at sunset, a few roe deer appear just a short distance away.
Outside, as the sun is setting, two chairs and a coffee table are perfect for a drink after a day spent among trekking and long walks. At night the silence for those who are used to the frenetic city is almost surreal. It is wonderful.
And there is no need to turn on the heating or air conditioning (which are available).
The light from the window wakes us in the morning, as we purposefully left the curtains open. It was too inviting to open our eyes to the view of the mountains. In the mini kitchen, we find everything we need for making coffee, tea, and there is also jam, croissants and biscuits. A great breakfast before facing the wonderful cycling paths of the area.
