Did you know that Friuli Venezia Giulia is also celebrated for its famous tiramisu? This delicacy was born right here in our Region, originally made in two well-documented variants in the respective towns of Pieris near Monfalcone and Tolmezzo in the mountains of Carnia. The Pieris version, originally called “Coppa Vetturino™,” dates back to 1935 and is a mixture of chocolate mousse, sponge cake and zabaione. The now world-famous version with ladyfingers, coffee, mascarpone and cocoa was created in Tolmezzo in the 1950s
