HISTORY
Jermann is a historic winery in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with roots dating back to 1881, the year in which the family, of Austro-Hungarian origin, settled in the area of Villanova di Farra. The company’s journey has developed over generations, maintaining a constant focus on the land while gradually integrating viticultural expertise, agricultural sensitivity, and an increasingly attentive technical approach.
JERMANN PHILOSOPHY
The company’s mission is to represent the characteristics of the Friulian territory in a coherent and respectful way through the production of white wines that reflect its identity, climate, and agricultural tradition. Jermann aims to combine family history, innovation, and an interpretation of the cultivated grape varieties, with the goal of offering balanced wines born from the daily care of the vineyard and the constant observation of natural cycles, ensuring qualitative continuity.
Every decision is made with an essential and responsible approach, according to a philosophy based on five concepts: vision, concreteness, foresight, sensitivity, and elegance. Vision guides the interpretation of the Friulian territory over time; concreteness directs technical and production choices toward what is essential; foresight evaluates the future impact of every decision; sensitivity nurtures the daily listening to the vintage and the vineyards; and elegance remains the stylistic goal, seeking balance, measure, and respect for both variety and place of origin.
“Every decision in the cellar is guided by an obsessive attention to quality, precision, and elegance, in continuity with the Jermann philosophy. Our goal is to create wines that not only reflect the identity of the Collio and Isonzo terroir, but also convey an authentic emotional connection. What truly inspires me is the opportunity to share this emotion with those who taste our wines, bringing the story of the vineyard into every sip.”
— Luca Belluzzo, Jermann winemaker
At the heart of the company’s philosophy is also the care and protection of biodiversity, a commitment made possible by attentive agricultural practices such as the use of organic fertilizers, green manure, and the elimination of chemical herbicides. In addition, the Jermann estates are home to more than 700 different species of fruit trees, planted over the past 30 years to increase environmental diversity and support the life of beneficial insects such as bees. For this very reason, in 2021, beehives were installed at the top of the Capo Martino hill.
