New for the FVGcard!

All FVGcard holders can enjoy this sweet tradition along a route that runs from Trieste to Gemona, covering most of the territory of the Region.
 
FVGcard holders will therefore have the opportunity to discover, free of charge, a traditional regional dessert such as Strucco, or pastries or sweets made with local ingredients such as typical local flours, Blave di Mortean, honey, Friulian hazelnuts, and much more.
 
This project has been created in collaboration with Etica del Gusto, a non-profit association that unites more than thirty artisans from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and beyond, working in the confectionery, ice-cream, bakery and chocolate sectors.

BISCUITS WITH FRIULIAN WINE // THE ENZO CAVALLO BAKERY AND PASTRY SHOP

At the Enzo Cavallo bakery and pastry shop in Udine, visitors can enjoy a biscuit from the "Divinincanto" line of products, which are made with the indigenous wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The biscuits are very crisp and crumbly, non-alcoholic, and feature a delicate aroma of wine: Picolit, Ramandolo, Verduzzo, Refosco, Schioppettino, and Tazzelenghe, the authentic premium wines that have made Friuli Venezia Giulia famous throughout the world.

THE PAN, FICS E COCULIS // THE DUSCI PASTRY SHOP

The Dusci Pastry Shop in Udine is a great place to indulge your taste buds and enjoy the popular, peasant, and rural traditions of Friuli Venezia Giulia. In particular, you can taste a biscuit that will take you back in time thanks to its ingredients: the dough is made with "Blave di Mortean" polenta flour. This special ingredient was used in the past to make bread, which is called "pan" in the Friulian language. The biscuits are perfected and enriched with figs and walnuts, or "fics e coculis." These ingredients were very common in the old days and were cultivated in the courtyards of every household. At the Dusci Pastry Shop, our traditional local culture is preserved and enhanced with the creation of delicious and unique specialties.

A wide range of sweets comes to life in the Fabio Valentinis Chocolate Shop in Udine: you can always enjoy one of the many special chocolate pralines with a liquid filling made with local liqueurs such as Friulian bitters and grappas, which can also be served as a frozen treat in the summer. In winter, you can also try pralines with a creamy filling made with the same type of liqueur.

The Ferrarese Pastry Shop in Gemona del Friuli has been making strudel with local Friulian apple varieties such as Ruggine Dorata, Striata Dolce, Blacon, Zeuka, and Gialla di Priuso for 100 years, from one generation to the next. THE PRESNITZ // THE EPPINGER CAFÉ

Have you ever tasted Presnitz? It is a soft sweet with a fragrant filling of dried fruit and Marsala wine in a rolled puff pastry. It is a delicacy with a distinctly Central European flavour, well representing at once the crossroads of cultures and people embodied in the territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia as well as Trieste and its port. The Presnitz should never be rolled up with the dough, but should form a compact filling, similar to a soft marzipan in the shape of a sausage, which is then delicately wrapped in a very thin sheet of puff pastry.

Another product not to be missed is the "Oro Del Carso" biscuit, a delicious treat enriched with wild fennel flowers, a typical spice of the territory of the Karst. This ingredient, known as Oro Del Carso, or Karst Gold, gives the biscuit a unique and unmistakable aroma, reminiscent of the scents of the Mediterranean maquis. You can taste this speciality in the town of Savogna d'Isonzo at the Cotič Bakery, which is called Pekarna in Slovenian.

The Nocciolino is a buttery biscuit just waiting to be enjoyed, made with two types of flour and a unique touch of hazelnut. It is the perfect breakfast treat with a nice cup of coffee, a tasty snack, or even better, crumbled over a scoop of ice cream. This shortbread biscuit has been created in collaboration with the Molino Moras mill and almost exclusively with products from companies in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with the idea of enhancing what only our region has to offer.

Would you like to discover the secret of the hazelnut ice cream made by L'Angolo Della Dolcezza in the town of San Quirino? All the hazelnuts are 0-kilometre from the orchards of San Quirino and Cordenons, in the province of Pordenone. They are a particular variety, the Tonda Gentile Friulana hazelnut, which is excellent for its sweetness and fragrance. Fabrizio personally selects quality raw ingredients every day in his artisan workshop, sourcing them from local producers and following the rhythm of the seasons. He collaborates with farms in Friuli Venezia Giulia to promote the territory and its 0-kilometre products, as well as with small local businesses.
