Bike route between Udine and Palmanova, an area chosen by Friulian nobility as early as the 17th century to build villas, which became summer residences.
The loop route starts in Santa Maria la Longa from the municipal headquarters: here you can see artwork commemorating the stay of the poet Ungaretti and the uprising of the Catanzaro brigade during World War I. During this route, one rides one's bicycle through small agricultural villages with 17th- and 18th-century villas used by Udine's nobility to stay there during the summer period. Notable among the villas are Villa Agricola Strassoldo del Torso and Villa Caimo Mauroner in Tissano, while in Clauiano there is Villa Manin Guerresco with frescoes by Tiepolo. Clauiano, named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, where the atmosphere of a typical Friulian rural village can be felt, is the last stop on the route, before returning to Santa Maria la Longa, the finishing point of the loop.
