Loop gravel route, from Gemona del Friuli to Lignano Sabbiadoro, to admire nature and villages on both sides of the Tagliamento River
The route begins in Gemona del Friuli and follows the course of the Tagliamento River. On the right bank the cyclist pedals through Spilimbergo, a town with a thousand colors of mosaic tiles, the village of Valvasone with its castle and the fortified town of San Vito al Tagliamento. On the left bank you cross the Bars springs in Osoppo, the Ragogna hill, San Daniele del Friuli, Codroipo and Camino al Tagliamento, lands rich in water and Venetian villas until you reach Latisana and Lignano Sabbiadoro. The loop route can begin and end at any location with intermodal services (see HOW TO GET THERE).
Food & wine:
Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP is an excellence that can only be produced in the delimited area of San Daniele del Friuli and can be paired with wines produced along the Tagliamento River that fall within the Friuli-Grave DOC wine production area.
RECOMMENDED DISH: Snack with prosciutto di San Daniele DOP of different ages
I recommend a stop at the viewpoints of Braulins, palazzo di Sopra in Spilimbergo, Dignano, Camino al Tagliamento, and Latisana.
