Gravel loop route, from Gemona del Friuli to Lignano Sabbiadoro, to admire nature and the villages on both banks of the Tagliamento river
The route starts from Gemona del Friuli and follows the course of the Tagliamento river. On the right bank, cyclists pedal through Spilimbergo, a town with a thousand colors of mosaic tiles, the village of Valvasone with its castle, and the fortified village of San Vito al Tagliamento. On the left bank, the sources of Bars at Osoppo, the hill of Ragogna, San Daniele del Friuli, Codroipo, and Camino al Tagliamento are crossed, lands rich in waters and Venetian villas until reaching Latisana and Lignano Sabbiadoro. The loop route can start and end in any town with intermodal services (see HOW TO ARRIVE).
Food & wine:
San Daniele DOP ham is an excellence produced only in the defined territory of San Daniele del Friuli and can be paired with wines produced along the Tagliamento river within the DOC Friuli-Grave wine production area.
RECOMMENDED DISH: Snack with San Daniele DOP ham of different aging
I recommend a stop at the panoramic points of Braulins, Palazzo di Sopra in Spilimbergo, Dignano, Camino al Tagliamento, and Latisana.
