Tarvisio - Gorizia: from the mountains to the vineyards (TX01)

This itinerary connects the first part of the Alpe Adria FVG1 Cycle Route and the second half of the Pedemontana FVG3 Cycle Route. At every bend of the route nature, food, and wine are a welcome reason to stop and relax. From Tarvisio the route follows the old railway track and crosses the villages of the Alpine valleys before cycling through the hillside towns of Tarcento and Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO site for its Longobard heritage, and Cormons in a succession of diverse architectures. The food and wine on offer are certainly one of the strong points of this route: from typical mountain dishes with Austrian undertones to those influenced by the traditions of Friuli and Slavic cuisine.

In Cividale dal Friuli you can choose the variant of the vineyards (FVG 3/d) to visit the land of Schioppettino and Ribolla Gialla wines, without forgetting the other jewels of the wine cellars to be enjoyed with your fellow travellers at the end of the day.
