Tagliamento tour cycle circuit (R028)

 The cycle routes that have been created along and above the Veneto and Friuli banks of the Tagliamento river make it possible to enjoy a pleasant outing by bicycle, as an alternative to a day at the beach for people on holiday in Bibione or Lignano Sabbiadoro. Starting from the ferry landing stage between the two seaside resorts, head upriver following the signposts that have been installed on the bicycle routes. Every now and then, the route descends from the embankment to allow a visit to coastal villages such as Pertegada, Latisana, San Michele al Tagliamento, Cesarolo, and Marinella. Detours to Isola dei Picchi and the city centre of Latisana can also be quite interesting.

This is an excursion with remarkable naturalistic and landscape features: you will easily spot, on the river and in the surrounding countryside, several species of aquatic birds as well as a great amount of equally interesting wildlife. The particular riparian vegetation will constantly surround the ride, even if the banks, owing to their natural features, are devoid of any particular tree cover. From the top of the embankments themselves, it is possible to enjoy the view of the wide adjoining plain on both shores from a privileged position, and then enjoy spotting the surrounding villages, while easily being able to keep your sense of orientation and position.
