The Stella River originates in Codroipo and flows into the Marano Lagunare Lagoon:
an itinerary to be done by bike among nature, resurgences and landscapes to be discovered.
Route
The itinerary partially skirts the Stella River. The village of Ariis is the most interesting point of the route to appreciate the historical and naturalistic aspects of this area. In the river park of Ariis it is possible to visit the Regional Aquarium of Freshwater Fish, the 17th-century Venetian villa Ottelio Savorgnan. In Flambruzzo we find the castle, residence of the famous General Pietro Badoglio. From Rivignano begins the return route to Latisana, which in the final part hooks up with the Tagliamento cycleway (FVG6).
Food & wine
The clear waters of the Stella River are used by trout farmers in the Ariis area of Rivignano. The ciloturismo route passes through the vineyards of the Friuli-Latisana DOC area. Along the way it is possible to stop at one of the wineries for a tasting. Recommended dish: Crostini with cold-smoked trout.
The route is frigid all year round but spring and autumn are the best times.
During the warmer months walk the route in the early morning or at sunset.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
The route is circular and unmarked. The route is partially on paved-paved mixed-use road, good dirt road, and bicycle path.
The route does not have its own signage, so we recommend downloading the map and GPX track on this sheet.
