The Stella river develops from the resurgent waters that flow near the town of Codroipo and flow into the Marano Lagunare Lagoon. A territory waiting to be discovered!
Food & wine:
The clear waters of the Stella river are used by trout farmers in the area of Ariis di Rivignano. The ciloturistic route passes through the vineyards of the Friuli-Latisana DOC area. Along the route it is possible to stop at one of the wine cellars for a tasting.
Recommended dish: Crostini with cold-smoked trout.
Itinerary:
The itinerary partially follows the Stella river. The village of Ariis is the most interesting point of the route to appreciate the historical and naturalistic aspects of this area. In the Ariis river park it is possible to visit the regional aquarium of freshwater fish and the 17th century Venetian villa Ottelio Savorgnan. In Flambruzzo we find the castle, residence of the famous General Pietro Badoglio. From Rivignano begins the return route towards Latisana, which in the final part joins the Tagliamento cycle route (FVG6).
The route is frigid all year round, but spring and autumn are the best times.
During the warmer months, walk the route early in the morning or at sunset.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
The route is circular and not signposted. The route runs partly on asphalt-paved mixed-use roads, on good gravel roads and on cycle paths.
The route does not have its own signposts, so we recommend downloading the map and GPX track on this sheet.
