Gravel route with steep climbs from Sacile to the Cansiglio plateau via Piancavallo for breathtaking views. On clear days, Venice can be glimpsed.
The itinerary follows part of the Pedemontana FVG3 cycle route and then the "Snow Venice" road. This route with steep climbs leads to the Cansiglio ridge road; from here you reach the Cansiglio forest, a vast karst basin located at 900-1000 meters altitude and bounded by a mountain ridge. You pedal among beech trees, silver firs and Norway spruces with wonderful panoramic views of the plain and, on clear days, the Adriatic Sea. You start and return in Sacile and cross Caneva. With a short half-kilometer detour at the end of the climb from Budoia, you reach the centre of Piancavallo, a well-known tourist destination. The panoramic route can start directly from Piancavallo which is reachable in summer months by a Bicibus starting from Pordenone with a stop in Aviano.
Various intermodal bike+train and bike+bus connections help reduce the mileage. See section HOW TO GET THERE
