Itinerary:
The loop starts in Tolmezzo and follows the But stream toward Zuglio, an ancient Roman city, until it reaches near Arta Terme. Then it goes further up the valley toward Sutrio and reaches Cervircento. To join the Degano Valley bike path, one must pass the Sella Valcalda saddle in Ravascletto (alt. 958 m). You descend to Comeglians and reach, via side roads Ovaro, where the bicycle path built on the site of an old railway begins. You return to the Tagliamento valley passing in the prosismity of Villa Santina and return to Tolmezzo along the bicycle route.
Food & wine:
Carnia is also synonymous with sweets; in the small town of Raveo, you can taste the esse di Raveo, crispy and fragrant cookies from the simple ingredients in the shape of an esse, while from Tolmezzo it is said that the delicacy was born that became the favorite form of invigorating tonic after mountain hikes and days spent on skis: tiramisu!
