Bike route through the vast region of morainic hills located northwest of Udine: a journey among ancient castles that enrich the landscape.
From Udine, follow the Alpe Adria cycle route (FVG1) up to Vendoglio. The first castle you encounter is the largest and most famous in Friuli, that of Colloredo di Monte Albano, followed by the castle of Caporiacco, which can only be visited from the outside as it is still private property. Just before Fagagna, there is the fortified house La Brunelde, a manor with ancient shapes. Upon arriving at Fagagna, you can climb with some effort to the large ruins of the namesake castle. The beautiful castle of Villalta stands at the base of the hills and is only visitable on certain days. You pass near the Castle of Moruzzo and enter Santa Margherita del Gruagno, a small fortified village. From here the view is truly breathtaking, from above you can see the city of Udine, the eastern hills, the entire Friulian plain up to the sea on the clearest days. Return to Udine along the FVG1 cycle route.

Venice-Udine Railway, passing through Treviso, Conegliano, Sacile and Pordenone.
Udine-Cividale Railway, passing through Remanzacco and Moimacco.
Udine-Cervignano Railway, passing through Palmanova. In Cervignano it connects to the Venice-Trieste Railway.
Pontebbana Railway, between Udine, Gemona del Friuli, Pontebba and Tarvisio.
The MICOTRA train is a special international and intermodal service between Udine and Villach (A) with stops at Gemona del Friuli and can carry over 70 bicycles in dedicated wagons. It operates two daily round trips and extends its service in summer to Gorizia and Trieste.
Regional trains (Trenitalia) can carry bicycles along the section from Gorizia to Sacile (Trieste - Udine - Venice line) and from Sacile to Maniago.
