A ride through ancient trades and traditions, a journey through time among rural villages that accompany the cyclist all the way to Gemona del Friuli.
The route begins in Maniago, a town known for its knife production, recounted at the Museum of the Art of Knife Making and Cutlery opened in the first local factory. We pedal towards Fanna, where the Madonna da Strada is located, one of the oldest Marian shrines in Friuli, and reach Cavasso Nuovo, home of the red onion recognised as a PDO product. Here, before continuing towards the mountain villages, it is worth visiting the 16th-century Palazzat, which houses the Museum of Emigration. Past Meduno, the gateway to the Meduna and Tramontina Valleys, we proceed to Toppo, which with its houses and gardens is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.Pedalling between Travesio, Valeriano and Pinzano you will encounter several small churches of great artistic value. You will then skirt the Tagliamento River: along the way of great interest is the Cornino Lake Nature Reserve. After passing Trasaghis, one of the municipalities to which Lake Cavazzo belongs, we reach Gemona via the Braulinis bridge.
Gemona is the crossing point of 3 cycle routes. If you want to change route, you will find the information in DIRECTIONS TO FOLLOW.
