Gravel Loop Through the Vineyards of the Friuli Grave DOC (R071)

The long loop that crosses the Friuli Plain and the hills north of Udine is designed for gravel enthusiasts; it’s suitable for both beginners—who can tackle it in multiple stages—and more experienced cyclists, who can complete it in a single day. The route, consisting of approximately 54 km of dirt roads, passes through or runs alongside some of Friuli’s major historic and food-and-wine destinations, including San Daniele del Friuli, Codroipo, Mortegliano, Udine, Nimis, Tarcento, and Gemona del Friuli, where you can find lodging and amenities. The route showcases the region’s diverse landscapes, winding primarily along roads with little to no traffic: you’ll cycle through the Grave del Friuli region among vineyards and wine-growing lands, in an authentic landscape where nature, culture, and food and wine traditions come together. Thanks to the option of starting from various connected locations, this loop offers an immersive experience that combines sports, nature, and the flavors of Friuli.
